Bio

Vanesa Crisostomo is a Fulbright PhD scholar from Chile. She earned her Bachelor’s degree and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Universidad de Concepcion in 2021. She is currently a PhD student in the Graduate Group in Integrative Pathobiology and joined the Shapiro Lab in 2024. Her research interests include disease ecology, zoonotic diseases, parasitology, and the One Health approach to studying health at the human-animal-environment interface. Outside of the lab, she enjoys spending time with friends, watching (and rewatching!) Harry Potter marathons, and exploring the outdoors whenever she can.
