Bio

Michael Tsortos is a third year Biochemistry and Molecular Biology major at UC Davis. He has been part of the lab since August 2022, working on advancing/utilizing protozoan detection methods and determining the effects of microplastics in the ocean, specifically how they affect protozoan interactions with oysters. His other activities include working in the Hematology Clinical Diagnostics Lab at the UC Davis VMTH, as well as serving as an Aggie Public Health Ambassador. On the side, he plays Pokemon GO and obsesses over his favorite artist, Lana Del Rey. He used to be an avid traditional Greek dancer but the arm holding is not very pandemic-friendly and has hindered his ability to dance. He aspires to continue in higher education following his undergraduate career, seeking out a Masters in Public Health and attending Medical School.
