Bio

Devinn received her DVM from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine and did her residency in anatomic pathology with a focus on zoo/wildlife pathology at UC Davis and the San Diego Zoo. She is currently a PhD student in the Graduate Group in Integrative Pathobiology and joined the Shapiro lab in 2020. Her research focuses on the molecular characterization, epidemiology, and host-pathogen interactions of Sarcocystis spp. infections in wildlife, including southern sea otters (Enhydra lutris nereis) and black bears (Ursus americanus). When not in the lab, Devinn enjoys running, yoga, baking, and playing with her dog.
