About Us
The overarching theme of our research program targets protozoan pathogen pollution in diverse environmental matrices (including water and foods), innovative pathogen detection, and clinical diagnostics and molecular characterization of parasites in animal hosts, including domestic animals and wildlife. Specific topics that we are currently investigating include association between microplastics and protozoan parasites in aquatic ecosystems; detection and quantitative microbial risk assessment of protozoa in shellfish; and investigating the epidemiology of apicomplexan parasites including Sarcocystis and Toxoplasma across coastal landscapes.
